When to seek reassessment
Some problems eventually require surgical treatment, particularly a locked knee, complete ligament injury with instability, or ongoing mechanical symptoms despite a well-completed rehabilitation programme.
Contact the practice promptly if you develop:
- Sudden locking of the knee
- A major increase in swelling after minor activity
- Severe pain preventing weight-bearing
- Giving way that is becoming more frequent
- Unexpected deterioration rather than gradual improvement
