MCL repair or reconstruction

Most MCL injuries heal without surgery. An acute tear that has pulled away from its bony attachment may occasionally be repaired directly. Long-standing instability from an MCL that has not healed may require reconstruction with a tendon graft.

MCL surgery is sometimes combined with ACL reconstruction when more than one ligament is injured.
