Meniscus repair
Meniscus repair is keyhole surgery that stitches a tear together, preserving the meniscus and its shock-absorbing function. Repair works best for suitable tears in the outer part of the meniscus, where blood supply is better, particularly in younger patients after an acute injury.
Recovery involves protected loading and takes longer than after trimming a tear, but preserving meniscal tissue may reduce the future risk of arthritis.
