PCL reconstruction
PCL reconstruction replaces a completely torn posterior cruciate ligament with a tendon graft. It may be considered when persistent backward instability affects function, particularly after combined ligament injuries or in people with high physical demands.
The operation is performed with arthroscopic assistance and followed by a carefully protected rehabilitation programme. Return to sport commonly takes 9–12 months.
